Game Design + Development

Get one step ahead

Qantm's Game Design + Development course helps position students ahead of the pack when it comes to careers in this industry. The course structure allows students to combine the fundamental modules (shared with the 3D Animation major and including pre-production, animation, graphic editing and game history) with advanced options that deal specifically with all levels of game production including programming (from basic to high level languages like C++), artificial intelligence and neural networks. They will also learn about the development of game environments, mathematics for game programmers, and graphics programming using OpenGL and DirectX and shader techniques.

Games programmers are the architects of games titles. They write the code that forms the building blocks of the game, governing the complex interactions between characters and environments. Games programming is mathematical, requires a keen problem solving mentality and is a rewarding, well paid and challenging career. This course offers students the theory behind the code and also more conceptual techniques to open up a broader picture to help them create their projects in the context of a fully realised gaming world.

As with all Qantm courses it's not all about the theory – there are plenty of practical projects for students to dive into plus insider knowledge, tips and advice from visiting industry experts. With constant communication with key players in the industry, Qantm have designed the course to constantly keep abreast of the latest developments in game production so that students will always be working with the hardware and software and their associated techniques and disciplines used in the real game programming industry.

Working within the computer game production industry used to be a difficult career choice, but the Qantm Interactive Entertainment, Game Design + Development course offers an internationally-recognised route and qualification and all the advantages of practical work experience and a broad knowledge base to give you the edge in one of the booming industries of the 21st century.
