Game Audio
Get one step ahead
The games industry is continuously changing and growing — creative professionally trained people is what this industry is looking for. Audio is a crucial element of the gaming experience, from the music, to ambiance, effects and dialogue.
Audio has always existed in gaming, from the simple pings of pong to entire games such as Guitar Hero, which could not exist otherwise.
The Game Audio Production diploma is a groundbreaking course bringing together the combined expertise of SAE Institute; world renowned for their audio engineering courses and the game development experts, Qantm College. Students have the best of both worlds, with access to the knowledge of experts in both Audio and Game Development and access to industry - standard equipment, software and technology. The programme is designed for students with a passion for audio who also wish to exploit the increasing industry demand for quality games in multiple genres.
The curriculum is a combination of cornerstones of audio production such as sound theory, non-linear editing, sound design and recording, signal processing and effects, compression methods, synthesis, and audio mixing including surround sound, delivered firmly in a gaming context. Students are also exposed to areas essential to game creation, such as location-based foley recording, sound bank creation and audio APIs, and will have the opportunity to hear their creations in-game using games engines, whilst learning scripting and programming fundamentals, and game level design. Another huge benefit of access to both SAE and Qantm is the ability to mix and collaborate with Game Development, 3D, Digital Film, Web and Audio students, expanding your audio showcase whilst becoming fully immersed in associated areas of New Media.
